Privacy policy
Information we collect
We collect information you give us directly, such as your name, email address and message content when you use the contact form. We also collect limited technical information automatically, such as browser type and general location inferred from IP address, through the cookies described below.
Cookies
This site uses essential cookies to keep the site functioning, and cookies that help us understand, in aggregate, which pages are read and how the site is used, so we can prioritise which guides to update. Functional cookies remember choices you've made, such as your cookie preference. Full detail on each category is set out in the cookie policy, and you can change your choice at any time from the cookie banner or your browser settings.
Processors
We rely on a small number of third parties to run this site: a hosting provider to store and serve the site's files, and an email service provider to handle messages sent through the contact form. These providers process data on our instructions and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
Legal basis and your rights
As a UK-based publisher, we handle personal data in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018. Where the contact form is used, our legal basis is legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, or consent where you've opted into optional cookies. You have the right to ask what data we hold about you, to have it corrected, and to have it deleted, and you can raise a concern with the Information Commissioner's Office if you believe we've handled your data incorrectly. Visitors accessing the site from outside the UK, including California, retain any additional rights granted under their own jurisdiction's law, such as the California Consumer Privacy Act, and can contact us to exercise them.
Retention
Contact form submissions are kept only for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and for a limited period afterwards in case of follow-up, after which they are deleted. Aggregated, non-identifying usage information may be kept longer since it does not identify an individual visitor.
Privacy contact
Questions about this policy or requests relating to your data can be sent to [email protected] or by post to Marrowfield Editorial Ltd, 19 Elder Close, Mile Cross, Norwich, NR3 4PJ, United Kingdom.
